A project that began nearly two years ago is finally coming to fruition! The downtown streetscape project, which will encompass the 100 – 200 – 300 blocks of Main Street will be kicking off construction next month. The improved streetscape will include new larger sidewalks, streets, lighting, benches, trash receptacles, artwork, bike racks and new infrastructure below ground. Also included in the design are sustainability elements like permeable pavers and bioretention areas to improve stormwater management.

Making this vision a reality has involved the efforts of many people and partnering organizations. We are so proud to play a part in the continued revitalization of our downtown and our community as a whole. Please come help us celebrate this monumental project at the Streetscape Groundbreaking Event scheduled for May 16th at 4:00 p.m. Following the groundbreaking will be the Build It – Dig It – Do It event sponsored by Main Street Ottumwa.
