Seven Wapello County nonprofits recently received grants from the Legacy Foundation’s Bright Ideas Community Enrichment Fund. Since 2011, total dollars awarded through this grant program has topped $2.5 million dollars to area nonprofits. The following Wapello County nonprofits were awarded in the 2017 summer grant cycle:
American Home Finding Association for the Wapello County Car Passenger Safety Program in partnership with the Wapello County Fire Department.
Eldon Uptown/Downtown to assist with the planning phase of the Downtown Revitalization project in Eldon.
Mid-Iowa Council of Boy Scouts of America for program support of their Community Collaboration Projects with Tenco, the Soccer program and The Salvation Army.
Ottumwa Area Community Chorus to help support their startup, marketing and recruitment efforts.
Oxford House Humility to support peer recovery coaching, vocational and other sober living skills training to the tenants of Oxford House.
Tenco Industries to assist with the installation of solar panels at the Tenco Greenhouse.
Wapello County 4-H Exposition to assist with boiler repair at their building prior to the heating season.
The Bright Idea Community Enrichment Fund has three competitive grant cycles each year. The next grant cycle opens September 15, 2017.
